About Next Generation Radio

The Next Generation Radio project is a full-scale, digital-first multimedia training project with emphasis on “radio storytelling.” We are committed to the professional development of undergraduate and graduate students who are focused on journalism.

Mentorship

Next Generation Radio is a series of one-week student radio training projects co-sponsored by NPR member stations and several journalism and media organizations.

Build Connections

The projects are designed to give students who are interested in radio and journalism an opportunity to report and produce their own radio and multimedia stories, and connect our fellows with public radio newsrooms all over the nation.

Training

Teaching sessions touch on several areas: recording techniques, writing, voice and on-air presentation, social media reporting and audio production.

Opportunities

We’ll be in several locations throughout 2016. We’re scheduled to be in Atlanta, Ga., Reno, Nev., Austin, Texas, St. Paul, Minn. and Sacramento, Calif. Follow @nextgenradio for updates and information.
